A close-up of the upper 15' of Middle Falls.it was my desire to get down to the base but the cliffs ledges leading down were moist with runoff. On my own and without rope I decided against it. I will have to return!

The promontories hikers can see here includes Bald Knob, Dobsons Knob, Shortoff Mountain, Table Rock, the Pinnacle, the Chimneys, and Hawksbill. The waterfalls are also frequent, with visits to Gragg Prong Falls, Hunt Fish Falls, Harper Falls, South Harper Falls, and Steels Creek Falls.
Gragg Prong Falls is utterly beautiful.
The trail follows Gragg Prong downstream on river right. In about a half-mile, cross the creek to river left. At 0.7 miles from the trailhead, the trail crosses a small tributary and there is a path to Upper Gragg Prong Falls. Between 1 and 1.1 miles, there are two more water crossing. The trail passes Middle Gragg Prong Falls at 1.2 miles.

Gragg Prong / Hunt Fish Falls. This hidden oasis is an additional river spot/swimming hole located half a mile into the hike to the main Gragg Prong falls July 25, 2022. The water flows over smooth bedrock and opens up into various swimming holes. The small tiered pools at this spot are ideal for taking a quick dip to cool off.

Battle in Gragg Prong
There are three major cascades here.Upper Gragg Prong, Gragg Prong, and (confusingly) Middle Gragg Prong Falls. Like a good trilogy ought, the spectacle builds with each consecutive one you see. The Upper Falls is perhaps the least remarkable, only about 15-feet in height, but the ledges up and downstream provide a wonderful setting.

Hunt Fish Falls & Gragg Prong Waterfalls Hunt Fish Falls Even though Hunt Fish Falls isn't a very big waterfall, it's a very popular destination for day hikers and backpackers as well. There's a huge natural swimming hole below the falls and room to hang out on the bedrock surrounding the pool.

The sign says 3.8 miles to FR 464 which is the trail head for Huntfish Falls..so you are just three miles from Huntfish Falls and 1.25 miles from the Upper Gragg Prong Falls, 1.5 miles from the Lower Gragg Prong Falls. The trail generally follows the Gragg Prong Creek as it flows south, eventually intersecting with the Lost Cove Creek.
