The Mason's LGCO Patent Nov 30th 1858 jar is hand blown with a ground lip. The closure is a shoulder seal with a zinc screw cap with a milk glass liner. The quarts come in various shades of green and blue aqua glass along with citron. Our museum example is unusually rich and deep in glass color. The midget pints can be found in aqua.

Our "Mason's Patent Nov 30th 1858 CFJCo" is an extraordinary jar. The midget pint was made in a cornflower blue glass color with a ground lip and Mason shoulder seal. It has a zinc cap with a rubber seal. The reverse has a prominent "CFJCo" monogram representing the Consolidated Fruit Jar Company in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Our very rare jar is embossed "Mason's Patent Nov. 30th 1858" and is distinguished from other Mason jars by three bold embossed letters and periods on the reverse side reading horizontally "N.C.L.," which stands for Nail City Lantern Co. This rustic antique half gallon sized Mason jar was rescued from a local auction. It is embossed "Mason's Patent 1858" on the front of the jar, and "Port" in script on the reverse of the jar.
