Less than 60 miles (90kms) from Ottawa, Upper Canada Village is a unique visitor attraction depicting life in Ontario around 1866, when the pace of life was much slower. Many of the 40 historical buildings were transported here from nearby villages which were flooded to make way for the St Lawrence Seaway in the 1950s.

1. Re: Ottawa to Upper Canada village by public transport 10 years ago Save I think you will find there isn't any public transit. Closest main city is Cornwall. 30 minutes east of Morrisburg. Both train and bus go there. but not to Morrisburg.

Upper Canada Village was a part of the project's heritage preservation plan. Many of the buildings in Upper Canada Village were transported directly from the villages to be flooded. The park, owned and operated by the St. Lawrence Parks Commission, was opened to the public in 1961. Other buildings from the Lost Villages were moved to Ault Park.
