27 June 2022 Lovers of ancient forest should put Padley Gorge at the top of their Peak District hit list. This beautiful stretch of woodland has a mysterious feel, with gnarled trees dripping in moss, and hundreds of boulders scattered amongst the bracken.

This is an excellent route in the Regional Park of the Cuenca Alta de Manzanares that leads to a small waterfall of Covacho, a recommended option in spring, fall, and winter since, in summer, this waterfall is usually dry. It is an excellent trail to disconnect and hike in a beautiful natural environment. There is hardly any shade along the route, so it is recommended to bring a hat, water.

Padley Gorge Walk"A Cloudy day walking in the peaks is better than a sunny day in the office". Padley gorge walk is an excellent walk for children and grownups alike. The walk through Padley gorge starts at Longshaw car park and goes via grindleford café and Totley tunnel. The walk takes about 2 hours but there are plenty of stops on the way.

Luckily, this Padley Gorge walk - via Millstone Edge (Surprise View), Owler Tor and Mother Cap - can be enjoyed all year round, no matter the weather.

Cross here and follow the path heading upwards with Burbage Brook on your right, with lots of mini waterfalls on the route up. Continue all the way until you reach another footbridge (don't cross) but instead take the single track path on your left.

Within a 3.5km loop you can paddle in the river, see waterfalls cascading down rocks, drink from a natural spring, visit historical chapel ruins, admire the Totley Tunnel and get a chip butty from Grindleford Station cafe.
